Acceptable use policy

Last updated 14 September 2026

ChargeAlong works because drivers tell each other what they found. This policy says what that means in practice. It is part of the terms of use.

What to post

  • Whether a charger worked when you were there, and what the next driver should know.
  • A fair rating of the site, not of a network, a car or a company in general.
  • Photos of the charger, its bays, signs, prices and how to find it.

What is not allowed

  • Links, web addresses or email addresses in reviews.
  • Anything abusive, hateful, threatening, sexual or unlawful, and personal attacks.
  • Anything untrue or misleading, including reviews of a site you did not visit.
  • Advertising, or posting for a network about its own sites or a rival's.
  • Anyone's personal details, and photos where faces or number plates can be read.
  • Photos that are not yours to license, or that show anything other than the charging site.

Using the site

  • No automated posting, and no attempts to get around the limits, the checks or moderation.
  • No scraping that puts load on the site. Our charging data comes from open sources, credited on the copyright notice: use those.
  • No probing, overloading or breaking of the site or its services.

What happens

Anyone can report a review. A review reported by three different people is hidden until we look at it. Photos are checked before anyone sees them. We may hide or remove anything that breaks this policy, and limit or stop posting from a person or an address that keeps doing so, or delete their account.

Tell us

To report something on a charger's page, use Report beside it. For anything else, use the contact form.
